Proverbs was mainly written by a man named Solomon. Does anyone know who Solomon is? King David was the king of Israel. God had promised David that a son born from his family would rule forever as king. (2 Samuel 7:8-16) After he died his son Solomon became the new king. Soon after Solomon became king, the Lord appeared to him at night. The Bible refers to Proverbs as “sayings of the wise” (Proverbs 24:23) and “sayings and riddles of the wise” (Proverbs 1:6). For thousands of years, Proverbs have provided a significant source of practical wisdom for people of all backgrounds and education levels.
